THOMAS SCOTT COLLECTION – Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale WITHOUT RESERVE and SOLD to the highest bidder August 13 – 15, 2015 at Russo and Steele’s 15th Annual Monterey, California Auction. Please contact us for more information. Dodge’s response to the muscle car movement in 1967 was the Coronet R/T, a high performance package that included the new 375hp Wedgehead 440 cubic inch Magnum V8 engine. Fed by a four-barrel AFB carburetor, the Magnum engine very effectively reduced the rear wheels to smoke with 480 foot pounds of torque at hand. Standard on the R/T was the TorqueFlite automatic transmission, red line tires, a beefed up suspension with heavy duty shocks, springs, torsion bars and front sway bar, a 70 amp-hour battery and heavy-duty brakes. Priced at $426 more than the standard Coronet 500, the Coronet R/T proved to be immensely popular with production amounting to over 10,000 units; however, relatively few were sold in convertible form. This example is a fully restored 440 Magnum Coronet R/T Convertible finished with a silver metallic exterior paint and the premium black vinyl interior. The car is well equipped with power steering, power brakes, a power operated top and a center console with a factory tach. Uniroyal redline radials on 15-inch rally wheels. Under the hood is the date-code correct, believed to be original engine (Mopar did not begin stamping VINs on their engines until 1968, so for 1967 “date code correct” is as close to numbers-matching as you can get). A true muscle car in every respect, the Dodge Coronet is also beautifully presented and offers collectors a rare opportunity to purchase one of America’s most impressive thoroughbreds — in convertible form. One of 12 cars offered from the Tom Scott collection.
