THOMAS SCOTT COLLECTION – Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale WITHOUT RESERVE and SOLD to the highest bidder August 13th – 15th, 2015 at Russo and Steele’s 15th Annual Monterey California Auction. Please contact us for more information. The third generation Buick Riviera which ran from 1971 to 1973 is best known for its dramatic “Boat Tail” rear styling. And if you’re looking for a Boat Tail Riviera, why not go for the highest performance version offered? The Stage 1 package got a higher output version of the 455 cubic inch Buick V8 and a limited slip rear end, making it a potent entry in the personal luxury car market. One of 728 GS Stage 1 Rivieras built, and one of only 60 finished in Regal Black. This example saw a recent frame-up restoration (with records) including paint, body, interior and both an engine and transmission rebuild. The paint shows well, side door trim and door handles have been re-chromed, bumper finish is good. Excellent glass with new windshield and rear window; some rubbers and felts are new, some are original. New 15-inch whitewall radials. The interior has been restored to a high standard; seats, door panels, headliner, carpet and dash are excellent. Highly optioned with tilt wheel, front and rear seat belts, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, rear defogger, etc. Cold A/C with new components. New fiber optics for the fender-mounted lamp indicators. AM/FM radio with working 8-track. When the engine was rebuilt 1,000 miles ago it got a mild cam, so performance is a better than a stock Stage 1. New exhaust is slightly louder than stock, but not obnoxious. The owner decided to leave the air cleaner lid unrestored as a nod toward originality; the rest of the engine compartment is nicely detailed. One of six classic Rivieras being offered from the Tom Scott collection.
